Erik Breen founded Infinsus, dedicated to integrating finance and sustainability, and has the ambition to (re) connect the power of (institutional) capital with the beneficiaries’ non-financial values through a realistic business-driven approach. He has 24 years’ experience in asset management and has been at the forefront of global developments in corporate governance, responsible investment, stewardship, sustainability and impact investing.
Erik started his career at Robeco in 1996 and held various positions as Fund Manager. Erik is the architect behind Robeco’s Responsible Investment strategy and founded the voting and engagement activities. He joined Triodos Investment Management in 2014 to insource asset management for listed securities. He designed an integrated investment and stewardship strategy, hired and set up the IE&B department, including processes, policies and technical infrastructure. Erik is founding Chair of Triodos IM’s Investment Policy Committee and under his leadership assets under management in Impact Equities & Bonds almost tripled.
Erik is Chair of the Integrated Reporting Framework Panel (2016-present), prior to being a Council Member of the IIRC (2013-2016). Erik was a Governor and later Chair of ICGN, the International Corporate Governance Network (2011-2017) and Chair of ICGN since 2014 until reaching the maximum tenure in 2017. He was Treasurer and a member of the Executive Board of Eumedion (2011-2017).
He holds a Master of Econometrics from the University of Groningen, earned an EFFAS CFA and has been registered with the Dutch Securities Institute from 2001 to 2019. Erik has given guest lectures at several universities, contributed to various books and articles and was acknowledged in 2011 as recipient of the Rising Stars of Corporate Governance Award, Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at the Yale School of Management.
